What Can Veneers Treat?
Porcelain veneers can:
- Hide a single crooked tooth
- Repair chipped and broken natural teeth
- Cover stained teeth
- Close spaces between teeth
- Offer a great alternative to teeth whitening
Your dentist at Dentistry of the Queen City can address your crooked, stained, or damaged teeth with affordable porcelain veneers. Cosmetic dentist Dr. Reece will work with you through every step of the treatment process to ensure that you get the care that you need.
What Are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers?
The benefits of porcelain veneers outweigh options such as dental crowns and tooth bonding. Dental veneers can instantly give you whiter, straighter, and more even-looking teeth. They’re durable and long-lasting, making them an ideal choice for those seeking a permanent solution to their aesthetic dental concerns. Also, you can have the perfect smile without spending a lot of time or money on more invasive procedures.
Porcelain Veneers Treatment in Charlotte, NC
Before your cosmetic dental treatment, Dr. Reece will discuss your budget, goals, and oral health with you. He does this first to ensure that porcelain veneers are the right option for you. After a dental exam, he will create a treatment plan to address all of your oral health issues.
After you have accepted the treatment plan, Dr. Reece will begin the procedure to improve your smile. He will first prepare your tooth enamel by removing some of the tooth structure from the front and sides of your teeth. He will then take an impression or mold of the teeth. While a dental lab crafts your custom-made veneer, Dr. Reece will provide you with a temporary porcelain veneer.
Once complete, your dentist will bond the custom porcelain veneer to your tooth with ceramic dental cement. Dr. Reece may make some changes to make sure the porcelain veneer is the right size and shape.
Porcelain Veneers Aftercare
Porcelain veneers last many years with good care, and some patients keep them for a decade or longer before they need replacement. The material resists staining and wear better than natural enamel, but the edges and the bond are where problems show up first. Follow these tips to care for your veneers:
- Brush and floss daily. You can still get cavities under a veneer, so the same routine that protects your natural teeth protects your veneers. Use a non-abrasive toothpaste so the polished surface stays smooth.
- Avoid hard objects. Don’t bite your nails, chew on ice, or use your teeth to open packaging. Those habits chip veneers just as easily as they chip natural teeth.
- Limit staining drinks. Porcelain resists coffee, tea, and red wine far better than enamel, but your natural teeth around the veneers can still darken. Rinsing with water after dark beverages helps keep the shade even.
- Keep your checkups. Dr. Reece checks your veneers at every cleaning visit and looks for small chips or open edges that need repair. Fixing a small problem early keeps it from turning into a replacement.
If a veneer chips or comes loose, call our office. Don’t try to fix it yourself, and don’t ignore it, because an exposed tooth can decay quickly.

Porcelain Veneer FAQs
Read answers to common questions about porcelain veneers in Charlotte, NC.
What happens to teeth underneath veneers?
Your natural teeth stay in place and stay healthy as long as the veneer seals properly. A well-bonded veneer keeps bacteria out, so the tooth underneath is protected rather than exposed. If a veneer comes loose or the edge opens up, decay can develop underneath, which is why Dr. Reece checks your veneers at every visit.
Do veneers stay the same color forever?
Veneers are mostly stain-resistant. Your teeth may stain, but your porcelain veneers should stay the same color for a very long time. This is because they consist of highly stain-resistant porcelain ceramic. This material does not stain easily, if at all.
In general, your veneers will last for years before they need a touch up. There are some steps you should take in order to ensure that your veneers stay the same color forever. You must practice good oral hygiene, avoid staining foods and drinks, and visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings. With proper care, you can enjoy your beautiful smile with veneers that stay the same color forever!
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
Porcelain veneers are a great way to improve the appearance of your teeth and give you the smile you’ve always wanted. But how much do they cost in Charlotte, NC? Depending on the type of veneer and the number of teeth being treated, porcelain veneers can range from $1,000 to $2,500 per tooth.
The cost also varies depending on the complexity of your case and any additional treatments that you may need. Find a qualified dentist who offers quality porcelain veneers at an affordable price in our Charlotte, NC, dental office.
Do veneers normally smell bad?
No, veneers don’t normally smell bad. This is because they fit directly against the front of your natural tooth. In some rare cases, gaps can form and create space that may trap plaque and bacteria. Veneers may start to smell, or give you bad breath if this is the case.
